I saw this lying in a corner of the workshop and I thought I just have to give it a try, or else I’d regret not doing it. It is actually made for the R1200GS. Visually measured and it looks like the Touratech shock is 1/2 inch taller than stock. Also had to make sure the width to both upper and lower eyes are the same. The lower fits exactly but the upper eye is about 1/4 inch smaller, so it was time to ramble through the drawer of bolts and mechanical treasures for it.
The rear ride height has increased by 2 inches after installing.
Surely will get more shower from the rear now 🙂
Adjusted spring pre-load all the way down to the minimum with only about 2mm as the baseline. Damping is at 5 clicks out of 20 from softest. As I am only 60kg (naked) it seems OK during initial short ride and moderate speeds. With riding gear and higher speeds I may have to increase the settings a little, but I’ll take it one step at a time.
The suspension colours blends with the bike too with its black, white and gold.
